Job Description

Primary Purpose:
Perform maintenance and repair work on identified MGN properties, ensuring the upkeep, functionality, and safety of buildings, systems, and surrounding grounds.

Key Performance Areas:

Property Maintenance:

• Carry out routine inspections and perform repairs to building fixtures, fittings, and structures.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and work orders
• Perform regular routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and corrective maintenance on machinery, systems and structures.
• Maintaining the building HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) equipment to keep climate control in the facility functioning properly
• Maintain cleanliness and operational condition of all external and internal areas.
• Arrange consumables and building material necessary for repairs and maintenance
Electrical work: Replace faulty light bulbs, switches, and sockets. Conduct basic electrical repairs and report major issues to supervisor. Installation and removal of electrical appliances.
Plumbing: Repair leaks in sinks, taps, toilets, and pipes. Unblock drains and toilets when required. Assist with routine plumbing checks and maintenance.
Carpentry: Perform woodwork repairs such as fixing doors, windows, furniture, and shelving. Assemble or disassemble furniture as required. Conduct basic construction or repair of wooden fixtures.
Painting & Tiling: Fill cracks and paint all building's interior and exterior. Repair and tile floors.
Garden and Grounds Maintenance: Maintain lawns, flowerbeds, and pathways. Operate and maintain basic gardening tools and equipment. Water plants, trim hedges, and remove weeds and debris as needed.

Record Keeping and Safety:
• Keep accurate records of maintenance work completed.
• Report material needs and equipment faults to the supervisor.
• Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and tools.
• Ensure all maintenance tasks comply with health and safety regulations.
• Report hazards or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Use tools and equipment responsibly and ensure they are maintained in good working order.
• Perform any related and reasonable tasks as may be required.

Job Requirements:
Highest Education:
• NQF Level Four (4) Qualification (Matric, Grade12 or NSSCAS)
• Technical or vocational training in general maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, or electrical work (advantageous)

Work Experience:

• Three (3) years’ experience in a similar maintenance role
• Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices

Other Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
