PRIMARY PURPOSE
The Key Accounts Manager in logistics maintains and further secures key customer relationships to ensure long term, sustainable business growth. This position has a strong focus on analyzing industry trends, monitoring competitors and shaping strategic direction in support of creating a trusted relationship with customers. They develop and execute go-to-market strategies, identify new business opportunities and foster strategic partnerships to expand the client base.


KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Client Relationship Management
 
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention. Operate independently while taking initiative to proactively address client needs and maintain positive relations.
Cost Analysis and Financial Oversight 
  • Review cost analysis of services provided to ensure efficiency and profitability. Collaboratively implement strategies to enhance resource allocation and financial performance, with the support and guidance of the management team
Customer Experience and Service Quality 
  • Supervise and manage the overall customer experience, including operations via the freight desk. Collaborate across divisions to train and assist teams, ensuring a seamless customer journey.
Market Research and Service Quality 
  • Conduct research to understand customer challenges, competition, and market opportunities. Provide insights to refine service offerings and align strategies with market trends.
Sales and Marketing Management 
  • Expand the current client base through targeted marketing efforts and sourcing new clients. Develop and execute sales strategies to drive revenue growth and increase the company's market share.
Leadership and Team Collaboration 
  • Demonstrate strong leadership skills to manage and guide internal and external stakeholders effectively. Collaborate with internal teams to foster positive relationships and support collective customer retention efforts.
Business Development and Partnership Acquisition 
  • Identify and acquire new business opportunities and partnerships aligned with company goals. Prospect, qualify, and negotiate contracts to drive deals to closure while maintaining alignment among stakeholders.
CRM System Management and Reporting 
  • Manage and maintain the CRM system to ensure accurate tracking of leads, client information, and sales metrics. Prepare and present detailed reports to senior management, offering data-driven insights and recommendations.

 
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS   

  • Bachelors Degree (NQF Level 7) in Business Management, Commerce or Marketing.
  • 5 - 7 years direct experience in Sales and Marketing Management, with a proven track record of driving business growth.
  • Five years of proven leadership and marketing expertise in a senior role.
  • Operational experience in logistics would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Valid Driver’s license
