Rennies Transport & Materials Handling is an equal opportunity employer based in Walvis Bay. We are looking for five (5) reliable and experienced Local and National Drivers to join our growing team as soon as possible.

PRIMARY PURPOSE

Responsible for the safe, efficient transport and delivery of cargo to local and national destinations, in compliance with all relevant regulations and company standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILTIES

Operations Efficiency:

  • Monitor road conditions and adjust delivery plans as needed to avoid traffic congestion or delays.
  • Deliver goods to clients on time, ensuring all deliveries meet the specified schedules.
  • Plan routes using maps or satellite tracking to ensure efficient travel and timely deliveries.
  • Ensure timely delivery by managing schedules and communicating effectively with dispatchers and customers.
  • Provide professional customer service by responding to customer queries about delivery times and ensuring a positive experience.

Administration and Documentation:

  • Maintain an accurate log of trips, including cargo details, delivery time and route.
  • Complete and submit daily logs accurately, recording the amount and type of cargo, and any incidents encountered.
  • Ensure that all delivery paperwork, including manifests and logs, is accurately filled out and submitted on time.

Safety & Compliance:     

  • Transport cargo, including hazardous materials, while following all applicable safety precautions and procedures.
  • Inspect the truck and trailer before and after each trip, recording any defects on the checklist and reporting them to be addressed.
  • Keep the truck in clean and good working condition through regular cleaning, inspections, and refuelling as needed (with prior approval).
  • Record any defects or mechanical issues found during vehicle inspections and report them promptly.
  • Report any mechanical problems or safety issues immediately to the appropriate personnel for resolution.
  • Follow procedures in case of accidents or incidents, ensuring that customer and company protocols are respected.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • NQF Level Two (2), Grade 10 Certificate.
  • Three (3) years relevant experience in transport/ logistics industry as a truck driver
  • Five (5) years post license experience.
  • Valid Code CE Driver’s License. 
  • Dangerous goods certificate
