Job Description

Primary Purpose:

To design, analyse, and enhance logistics processes and information flows to improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure the timely and effective movement of cargo across all business units and support divisions.

Key Performance Areas and Key Responsibilities

Data Analysis and Technology Integration

• Identify areas for improvement, analyse processes, and implement solutions to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction.
• Utilise data to identify trends, track performance, and make informed decisions to improve our logistics operations.
• Evaluate and implement new technologies or modify our current technologies to improve our logistics efficiency.

Process Optimisation and Systems Design

• Analyse existing logistics processes, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve efficiency.
• Develop new logistics systems and processes or modify existing ones to better manage the flow of cargo and information.

Cost Reduction and Best Practice

• Identify opportunities to reduce costs associated with transportation, warehousing, and cargo handling across our value stream.
• Identify and implement industry best practices to ensure that the organization is operating at optimal level.

Performance Monitoring and Collaboration

• Establish key performance indicators (KPI’s) and monitor the success of improvement initiatives.
• Working with cross-functional teams, including operations, administration, and support functions, to coordinate logistics activities.
• Continuous improvement throughout the value chain will be a key requirement.

Job Requirements:

Education:

• NQF Level Seven (7) Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Process Engineering.
• NQF Level Seven (7) bachelor’s degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.

Work Experience:

• Five (5) years of experience in a Process Engineering Role within the Logistics Industry.

Other Requirements:

• Proficiency in MS Office Suite, especially Excel (Power BI) and PowerPoint
• Driver’s license
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are crucial.
• Experienced in logistics processes and systems.
• Understanding and applying methodologies like Six Sigma (which focuses on reducing defects) or Lean (which focuses on eliminating waste).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong interpersonal and organisational abilities
• High attention to detail and ability to multitask
• Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with confidentiality
