Job Description

Primary Purpose:
To execute end-to-end payroll and remuneration processes with accuracy and confidentiality, ensuring compliance, timely execution, and insightful reporting to support key business decisions.

Key Performance Areas:
Payroll Processing & Administration
  • Process monthly and / or bi-weekly payrolls on Sage People.
  • Review and verify payroll inputs processed by payroll team members.
  • Ensure compliance with tax laws, labour regulations, and company policies and statutory deductions.
  • Maintain payroll records and ensure confidentiality of employee data.
  • Support implementation of salary structures, bonuses, and incentive schemes.
  • Generate payroll-related invoices for interdepartmental and external billing.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end payroll reconciliations for auditing purposes.
  • Perform monthly payroll reconciliations between payroll system and financial records.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in payroll transactions.
Payroll Governance and Compliance Reporting
  • Reconcile the monthly external payments i.e. SSC, PAYE and Medical Aid.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit documentation and respond to audit queries.
  • Act as a liaison between employees, finance, and HR for payroll queries.
  • Provide support and guidance on remuneration policies and procedures.
  • Compile and submit payroll reports for internal stakeholders and external bodies (e.g., tax authorities, auditors).
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll summaries.
  • Compile and maintain regular remuneration reports and dashboards.
  • Prepare compliance and governance reports for audits and regulatory bodies.
  • Analyze remuneration data and present trends to leadership.
  • Provide remuneration data for budgeting and forecasting.
  • Ensure accuracy of data across HRIS and payroll systems.
  • Demonstrate responsibility and commitment by adhering to the ISO standards to which MGN is certified in all assigned duties.
  • Perform any related and reasonable tasks as may be required.
Job Requirements
  • NQF Level Six (6) Qualification - Diploma in Business Administration Degree OR
  • NQF Level Four (4) Qualification – (Grade 12, NSSCAS) or NQF Level Three (3) – (NSSCO) with 10 years’ experience
Work Experience:
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience
  • High Proficiency in Payroll System (Preference to be given to Sage People)
  • Experience in General Ledger Reconciliations will be a distinct advantage
  • Proficient in Time and Attendance System (e.g. Jarrison)
  • Proficient in an ERP System (e.g. Acumatica) will be an advantage
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
